Creating Unscripted Portraits
It all started with one question:
Why shouldn’t parents have beautiful portraits of their little ones at school or nursery?

When my son brought home his school portrait proof, I sighed. Another lifeless, awkward photo—nothing like the vibrant, goofy, and thoughtful boy I knew. Forced smiles, stiff poses, and cheesy backdrops missed the point: capturing the child.
I vented to my friend Emma, who sent me her child’s proof with the caption:
“Ah, I see your gritted smile and raise you a hamster storing nuts!”
Turns out, I wasn’t alone. Parents in the playground shared the same frustrations—uninspiring photos, high prices, and rushed experiences with unenthusiastic photographers. Some didn’t even bother ordering. But why had we all accepted this as the norm?

A Better Way – with Beautiful Photographs
I knew I could do better. I wanted to capture kids as they truly are—expressive, joyful, beautifully themselves.
Creating Unscripted Portraits
Emma loved the idea, and fate stepped in when a friend managing an outstanding nursery took a chance on us. Nervously, we booked our first session…and the response was incredible.
Teachers were blown away. One gushed about how we’d captured each child’s personality—especially those with additional needs. Parents raved. These weren’t just school photos; they were portraits worthy of their walls.
The Revolution Begins
Unscripted Portraits was born. We proved school photos could be natural, expressive, and stunning. And now, we’re on a mission to change the game—one real, beautiful portrait at a time.
